Recreational activities in the park made to enjoy the natural panorama and unique animals. The routes are all the way through Kumai and River Gulf Sekonyer;

Kumai-Tanjung Harapan
Mangrove forests, palm forests, secondary forests, baby orangutans, and dolphins appear occasionally in the Gulf.

Cape of Good Hope is the zone that developed for eco tourism with information center inside. Orangutan rehabilitation with animal clinic also found here. Guesthouse and camping ground are also available in one of these tours in Borneo.

The cottage Tanggui-Camp Leakey-Tanjung Harapan
Swamp forest vegetation, pine, wild orangutans, proboscis monkeys, birds, wild boar, deer, lizards, and crocodiles are found occasionally.

Tanggui cottage is the zone that opened for orangutan rehabilitation. The area inhabited by deer, boar, and bird species. The cottage Tanggui connected to the Cape of Good Hope through the 25 miles around, good for trekking or hiking.

Accommodation in the park is allowed in the cottage in the jungle or Houseboat. The cottage is located on the side of the river Rimba Sekonyer, the lodge has 30 rooms (15 rooms emerald, sapphire 6, and 14 ruby) including single, double and an extra bed. The lodge can be reached about 2 hours by boat from the port of Kumai.

Other accommodation is houseboat. The boat is 6m x 2m with a roof which forms the upper deck where tourists can see the sights. Guide team includes boatman, cook and expert guide. The food provided on board. mattress, pillow, fine food, bottled mineral water, mosquito nets, kitchen and toilets are available at the boat house. Some tourists prefer to sleep on the boat because they can examine the animals around the boat.

Access to Base Bun

Tanjung Puting National Park in Kalimantan is a tourist region of West Kotawaringin, capital is Bun Base. The trip to the national park starts from the airport and then headed to the port of Kumai by car, takes about 20 minutes. Flights are available daily Bun Base provided by Trigana air.

Bun Base can be reached by land transportation, it takes about 14 hours from Banjarmasin. Ships from Java are also available.
